Wave Gotik Treffen Day 1
It's been rather warm in Leipzig. Make-up seems to be melting off people's faces. If the heat didn't get them, then the flash thunderstorms surely finished off the white face paint and the black mascara. Other than the parade of cyber, plastic, metallic or medieval costumes complete with ox horn drinking flasks, there's not much to report.

Arriving at the Agra, a rather large convention know for its agricultural trade shows in the 1970s, we waited in a short line for our press passes. The "normal" line was much longer. The Agra is also the location of the camping ground, where there was a sea of tents, and also a sea of people in black. Usually, the Agra Halle has a huge array of vendors inside. It was supposed to open at noon, but we waited at the closed doors until 1:30. Maybe the organizers were still putting on their makeup? After taking photos and video, we left and waited for the shows to start.

An attempt to see Milu at the Moritzbastei -- a city-center venue that used to be a cellar -- was completely thwarted by the crowds that extended all the way out of the venue. My group ended up drinking outside until the thunderstorms drove us inside and trapped us in a small room where the DJ was playing Amduscia. I was really ready to get out of the Moritzbastei.

Later in the night we arrived at the Volkshaus in the city center for a party called "Glitter + Trauma". It was really more trauma than glitter. The music was a very strange mix of indie rock, classic goth and a little bit of EBM/industrial, at least until around 1 A.M. By that time, I was thoroughly traumatized and ready for bed.

Enjoy the video. The footage is from the Agra area, and also some from the tram ride there. We'll post photos later.
