Masque & Veil began in 2004 when local members of the Fayetteville goth scene got together to form The Dark Room, a monthly club event focusing on dark independent music. A year later The Dark Room hosted the first Masque & Veil festival, which focused on the area's top DJs and a masquerade ball. This year the festival has again grown and branched out. Masque & Veil will feature a much larger selection of DJs drawn from across the United States, as well as performances by The Last Dance, Ego Likeness, Abney Park and In Tenebris. Other events include a signing party held at Hastings Superstore, a screening of the new documentary about The Last Dance, Almost Beautiful, a performance by Grotesque Burlesque and, of course, a masquerade ball. The festival will run September 13-15. Ticket prices are variable based on when they are ordered and are less expensive than paying admission on the night of the event.
