Fake Depeche Mode statement raging across the Web

Several magazines have recently been sent a so-called official press release stating that Depeche Mode has split up and that an official Mute announcement would follow May 16. The message meanwhile got sent all over the Internet. The note was signed by Alison McGuinness, who claims to be working for Daniel Miller's PR company. She claimed that "As late as last night, Daniel (Miller) was in talks to come to some agreement with Dave Gahan and Martin Gore." Mute Records have stated that the message is fake and that they never had heard of Alison McGuinness before. In the meantime, Martin gave a small interview in Uncut Magazine in which he mentioned the possibility for Dave to leave Depeche Mode if his new album "Paper Monsters" turns out to be successful. From his own point of view, Martin said that if there was no chance of recording with Depeche Mode again, he wouldn't release cover albums anymore but a self-written one.
