After losing a member from their ranks when he joined the Navy following the September 11th attacks, Cesium_137 did the only thing they could: prepare a new album and continue with their original sound. The album in question is Elemental, which is a fitting title as it combines EBM, synth-pop, and electro-pop elements to form a complete and unique sound.

The album is both moody and danceable. A good example of these split sounds combined in one track is "Apart," which contains a synthpoppish chorus and a fast-paced beat worthy of happy dancing, contrasted by reflective lyrics.

Other genre-defying tracks include "Veil," which has a fast-paced rhythm coupled with classically styled synthesizers, and "Winters Edge," which takes the album in a totally different sonic direction, with clear elements of old school techno and rave blended with hard-hitting EBM beats. "Hymn" has its origins in the electro-pop genre, with more upbeat synthesizers and percussion that adds an extra bit of danceability.

Cesium_137's musically gifted members' studies of classical music and the exclusive production and engineering of the album lends itself well to its eclectic sound. Elemental was produced at various points across the globe, including Germany, Finland, and The United States. This album is truly one that blends many elements of the vast sounds that make up the collective world of electronic music. I for one am a fan of these guys, and I think those of you willing to give it spin will be too.
