Hive Records has really come to my attention quite a bit recently with the release of some incredible hardcore glitch and noise music. Duncan Avoid's latest release, Metaphysics is just another fine example from this fantastic label. This album is organized chaos to say the least as it contains more glitch than a scratched and skipping CD heard on a radio station that is almost out of reach and is more static than anything else through the dilapidated and cracked speakers of a bass-fucked stereo system: snap, crackle, and pop. "Auditory Arms" is a fantastic example of this as the drumbeats are so broken and random that it is impossible to try and guess where they are going to next, and forget trying to tap your fingers to the beat... you would probably have better luck by having a seizure as the jerks your hand would make are probably as close to the randomness and unpredictability of the music that you can get. This is all heavily dosed with clicks, clacks, and pops that add more chaos to the mix. All in all, good shit! The result of all of this is nearly 60 minutes of noise at its best that spans 14 tripped-out and disorganized tracks. If you like crazy noise that is glitchy and random, then Duncan Avoid's Metaphysics is for you. If you aren't into noise at all, then don't bother with this because you will just receive a headache for your efforts. I say great job Duncan Avoid and keep up the good noise shit, Hive!
