I: Scintilla sets the stage for their newest album with the very solid Prey on You.

I: Scintilla shows the world what it has in store with its newest EP, Prey on You. Mastered by Sebastian R. Komor, the EP showcases three brand new I: Scintilla songs and a handful of solid remixes. I: Scintilla's style has been continually changing, though it has not lost anything from these changes; each step has produced a unique sound for I:Scintilla to tack onto its belt. Prey on You is yet another example of this shifting as the EP is well composed, thought out, and a good marker between the previous album Optics and the impending album Dying and Falling.

The Prey on You EP primarily contains the songs "Prey on You," "Ammunition," and "Hollowed," each of which holds their own individual sound separate from the other tracks on the EP. "Prey on You" is a fantastic track - catchy, moving, and upbeat with strong electronics and flowing lines. "Ammunition" is a hard-hitting, quick-paced cut, with a very cyber/metal sound and incredible intensity. The third track, "Hollowed" is very rock and a complete turnaround from the previous two tracks. Brittany Bindrim's sultry vocals carry through all three tracks, giving them a small bit of continuity, but aside from that one would almost swear these tracks came from three different bands.

The remixes for this EP are well selected and overall great additions to the collection as a whole. Komor's remix of "Prey on You" is a great, heavier industrial take on the song, proving that Komor is just one of those artists that can never seem to go wrong. Studio-X's cut of the same song is a supercharged, super hard mix that is perfect for the dance floor, while Cylab's rendition takes a turn that is both smooth and heavy at once. Die Warzau remasters "Hollowed" into a solid electro take which is about on the same level as the original, but with a different turn. C/A/T takes a stab at "Ammunition," which unfortunately falls a little short of the original by losing the gunfire feel that I: Scintilla provided. C/A/T's remix is mechanical and heavy, but drags in comparison.

With very few bumps on the way, Prey on You is a good display of I: Scintilla's talent. Continuity will have to wait until the next release, but as a showcase, this EP is spot-on.
