Hecate spews forth another vicious and vile track of extreme metal, back by Black Funeral's Michael Ford, offsetting her more electronic work with something even uglier.

Rachael Kozak, a.k.a. Hecate, is certainly no stranger to the harsh and twisted realms of the human psyche. With her own music crossing the fine lines between industrial, breakcore, dark ambient, and black metal, it should come as no surprise to hear her spew her venom in collaboration with groups and musicians in the world of extreme metal. Indeed, her latest release of audio excrement comes in the form of "Come Too Close to Taste," a track musically written by Michael Ford, a.k.a. Nachttoter of Black Funeral. As such, the music a far cry from the mangled and mutilated electronics of Hecate's own work, relying more on a rather grating display of screeching guitars, pounding drums, and rickety bass, offset by a dungeon-esque production sound befitting a medieval torture chamber. It's a rather simplistic and gothic affair, full of haunting atmosphere that many will find disturbing. Amidst it all are Hecate's vocals, rasping and scratching its way into the listeners ears like a beast clawing through one's flesh. "Come Too Close to Taste" is certainly one ugly track, one that will please fans of Hecate's forays into extreme metal, but will put off those who prefer her more electronically minded secretions.
