Moog Conspiracy
Code Alfa (Radio Edit)

By: Damon Wilson

On the afternoon of August 21, 2005 Robert Moog shuffled off this mortal coil and left behind a far-reaching and ever present musical legacy that continues to grow.

With his EP Is It Deep?, and in particular the track "Code Alfa," that artist known as Moog Conspiracy joins an impressive list of Moog aficionados and adventurous musicians who have utilized the instruments produced by the Moog family. Minimalist house is a fair enough summation of the overall sound of this song, but just giving it a name doesn't do it justice. Down-tempo in its feel, "Code Alfa" is experimental while still being structured and flowing. With plenty of space in the mix, the tempo is kept steady, even groovy, while your ears are treated to the ever changing, ever modulating melodic ponderings of the man behind Moog Conspiracy. Add to that a wide variety of atmospheric, mechanical, and electronic sounds and you have a piece that is full yet roomy. With Moog Conspiracy performing on Second Life, the legendary sounds brought to life by Bob Moog are once again finding their way to new and eager ears.
