Celldweller
Switchback (G.M.S. Remix)

One of the less interesting remixes of Celldweller's signature track, the G.M.S. remix still offers eight minutes of pulsating danceable techno fury.

Since Klayton first unveiled Celldweller to the masses in 2001, and even earlier with his work in Circle of Dust, Argyle Park, and his collaboration with Criss Angel, we've seen him go through a steady evolution of style and sound. Having released a number of digital singles and remixes since his 2003 debut, the man certainly knows how to build up anticipation for his new album while still satiating our thirst for new music. Adding to this is the Growling Mad Scientists rendition of "Switchback," an 8-minute epic of fast-paced techno madness replete with subsonic bass and oscillating synth fury. Racing from the beginning to a raging climax, the results of this remix are unfortunately less than stellar. While a competent remix in its own right, it serves as little more than an extended dance track of a song that has seen an already numerous amount of alternate interpretations, many of which were more interesting than this. Of course, that would be understating the track's quality as a good club filler, sure to get people moving on the dance floor, making it difficult to find fault with the G.M.S. remix. One can be sure that DJs will find it an excellent edition to their set lists.
